Welcome to 2001

Good Returns' news service will begin again on Monday. In the meantime the market data pages, which include regularly updated New Zealand share prices, a daily commentary on both the share and bond markets, daily prices for Challenger Endowment Warrants and Mortgage Rates are being updated.

Last year may have been a rough year for dot com companies, but it was a positive one for Good Returns. We revamped the site to make it more user-friendly, increased our readership, expanded services, and added new staff.

This means we can deliver readers an even better and more comprehensive news service.

One of our new contributors is Wellington-based journalist Rob Hosking. Rob provides a regular update on what is happening in and around Wellington and the Beehive which impacts on the personal finance and savings industry. His first column this year, about how super has hit National, will appear next week.

Other major editorial features to look out for over the next month are a Special Report on investing in health and biotechnology and the annual Financial Forecasts - Your Blueprint for the Year Ahead feature.

Besides these features Good Returns plans to further enhance the new sections which were added to the site last year including the Insurance News page and the Trusts and Estate Planning Page.

Other new features to look out for are a comprehensive comparision of online share broking services and online banking services.

Superannuation promises to be a major issue this year as the Government's plan to prefund NZ Super move into the select committee stage. Good Returns sister site, SuperTalk (which is done in association with AMP) will continue to be a leading source of super news, commentary and information.

Another major aim this year is to develop a vibrant discussion forum where people can talk about issues relating to personal finance and savings. In the Online Forum section you can talk about, make comment or ask questions on any topic you like, whether it is a view on a fund, an issue such as regulation of advisers, or a request for information.
