The Kapiti Coast-based Buddle, 31, who has been remanded on bail until October for sentencing, was charged after a police investigation into complaints by her clients that they persuaded them to mortgage their properties and lend her the money.

The clients allege the money hasn't been returned but police laid no charges over their allegations.

Instead, the deception charges relate to Buddle staying in motels without paying.

Judge Bruce Davidson has ordered reparation and victim impact statements.

So when are the poor victims that lent Buddle the money going to get it back from her? Why are the police not charging her with those offences?

The legal system in this country needs to start sending a message to "white collar"criminals" by issuing more jail sentences.

So, Buddle's staying in motels without paying is seen as more severe offending by the police and warranting prosecution than her swindling former mortgage clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars??? If this horrible lady ever gets held to account for her past actions then it will eventually come to light also that OnePath continued to deal with Kerry Buddle for insurance after ANZ Bank (who owns OnePath) had refused to deal with her for mortgages.

I truly hope the police and courts eventually charge Buddle for the offenses she has committed upon former clients. She needs to be held account for her actions and as Jason says a message must be sent to others in the industry.

I look forward also to hearing why one of New Zealand’s biggest life insurance companies continued to accept business from her when the bank that owns them had already refused to deal with her?

Hey to everyone out there posting comments on Buddle I am one of the victims and believe me the Police are still working on this and that's why at present these charges have not be laid against her until Police have finished their investigations.
