Under the Blue Sky Holdings scheme, a Papatoetoe family thought they were making payments towards a deposit on the house they were living in, but this was not the case.
In a decision last week, the tribunal ordered the firm to pay the Young family back $7580 and awarded damages of $500.
The couple had initially owned the house but sold it in 2000 and hoped to buy it back through the new arrangement agreed to in 2001.
