Huge demand for building consents and inspections

Unprecedented demand for building consents and inspections has prompted Taupo District Council's Environmental Services Division to allocate set times for dealing with customers wanting to lodge applications.

From Tuesday October 28, people wanting to lodge applications will need to ring during work hours and make an appointment between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday.

Environmental Services manager Chris Kimpton says the current system where people come in at any time without a prior appointment is putting everyone under pressure.
