Auckland is effectively viewed as the Australian seaboard’s fourth city by property investors across the Tasman, says visiting Tony Brasier, Australian chief executive of Sydney-based Colliers International.

"If you look at Australia’s east coast cities - Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - Auckland is an hour closer than Perth and not much less in travelling time than Adelaide," he says.
"So Auckland is a key market as far as Australians are concerned and, in fact, they now see both countries as one market. There’s been talk about having one currency and I believe that will eventually happen."
Colliers, with 27 offices in Australasia, claims to be the biggest transtasman commercial agency, generating annual revenue of A$150 million ($162 million).
