Interest rates go up

Interest rates are starting to creep up in the wake of last week's monster rise in the Official Cash Rate (OCR).

ANZ has announced it will increase fixed home loan rates, from today.

A two year fixed term mortgage will go up from 6.79% to 7.34%

There are similar increases for all fixed tare mortgages and the floating rate will reach 7.99%, and the home build rate also rises but stays lower.

ANZ Managing Director for Personal Banking Ben Kelleher said the bank would also raise deposit rates.

He added rates would continue to be reviewed in response to international and local market conditions.

BNZ has so far raised deposit rates.
