The group has appointed David Haintz as the independent director of Lifetime Group Holdings and its subsidiaries.

Chief executive Peter Cave says the board were encouraged by the quality of candidates who applied for and completed the selection process.

Haintz has a wealth of knowledge in financial services globally, having originally built a boutique independent advisory business in Melbourne, Australia, before merging with 11 other advisory businesses in 2008 to form Shadforth Financial Group Ltd and becoming one of Australia’s largest non-aligned advisory businesses before being acquired by ASX listed company IOOF Group in 2014.

During this time he held both governance and senior executive roles including that of ‘Head of Advice’ for over 100 group client private advisers nationally.

In 2015 he left Shadforth and established Global Adviser Alpha Pty Ltd a private consulting company working to help global advice businesses become world class. This work has kept him at the forefront of advisory trends across global markets and regulatory jurisdictions.

Haintz has a rich history in the professional financial planning community, was awarded the Money Management Australian Financial Planner of the year in 2005, is a recognised author and keynote presenter, and was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2022 in recognition for outstanding and meritorious service for significant service to financial planning, to business, and to the community.

David Whyte continues on as Lifetime's independent chairman.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly said Haintz was appointed chairman.
