SBS Wealth is expanding its team of experts

Financial services leader Dennis Edel has joined the wealth management provider in the newly created role of chief client officer.

His appointment comes at the same time as Matt Beach enters the company as head of client care and Richard Phillips as head of growth.

Like chief executive Morne Redgard, who took up his role in May 2023, all three new arrivals were part of the Kiwi Wealth team.

Edel has spent more than 30 years in financial services and was previously head of advice at Kiwi Wealth, where he also served as a financial adviser to clients, among several key advisory roles. He has also worked as a private banker for a major bank.

Edel says, “It is a privilege to join SBS Wealth at a time when the company is really centring its focus on New Zealanders who need quality financial advice from a trusted, experienced provider.

“Over three decades in the sector, whether I am working directly with a client or leading a team that serves thousands, my goals are the same: I want investors to know the value of their investment, from the joy it can bring when someone walks through the door of their first home to that first day of retirement – or being able to take the trip to Greece to see the white terraced homes. I have always worked to model integrity and deliver financial freedom with superior service, and am relishing the opportunity to be part of a company that represents my personal values and partners with Kiwi to help them achieve their financial dreams, and is wholly New Zealand-owned and -operated.

“Being a financial adviser carries with it the duty to ensure clients can seek financial advice to help them achieve their long-term goals. SBS Wealth is going to set a new standard for what people should expect from their provider.”

Redgard says, “It’s an exciting time for our business to welcome Dennis, whose skills enhance our strong, established team. Our purpose is to make advice more accessible and deliver it in a way that is meaningful and easy to understand. Bringing Dennis into our team will help us deliver on this purpose.”

SBS Wealth, is part of Funds Administration New Zealand Limited (FANZ), a wholly owned subsidiary of Southland Building Society, operating as SBS Bank.
