Top New York investment adviser Ron Ryan - a recognised expert on the US bond market - is a key player in Global-e Investments.

Mr Ryan is president and founder of Ryan Labs, a New York investment advisory firm specialising in quantitative fixed interest money management. Ryan Labs recently rates the second largest manager of Domestic Index Bond Funds in the US, with over US$200 million under management.

Mr Ryan is the fund manager for the Global-e Bonds investment offer. His job as manager is to invest a portion of the money raised in 20 year US Treasury stocks to ensure there is sufficient money available in 20 years time to repay each bond.

Mr Ryan describes his job as matching assets with liabilities so a business has certainty of income.

About one third of each Global-e bond is invested in US Treasuries to ensure. This money is invested in such a way that the company is guaranteed it will be able to repay each bond at the rate of US$1200 in 20 years time.

Of the remaining funds, 40 per cent is invested in zero coupon bonds and the money is used for the sales budget. The balance is used to fund development of the company's e-business.

Before forming Ryan Labs, Ron Ryan was the director of fixed income research and chief strategist at Lehman Brothers from 1977-1982. At Lehman, Mr Ryan was the designer of the Lehman Government/Corporate bond index and is acknowledged as the creator of the Lehman family of indices.

In 1982, Mr Ryan established Ryan Financial Strategy Group (RFSG) and during the first year of operation created the first daily bond index in the US - the Treasury yield curve. RFSG evolved into Ryan Labs in the mid-1980s and the firm continues to be a leader in the area of index design.

Prominent indices include the first GIC Index, the STRIPS index, and the trademarked Liability Index, which was created in 1981. Since 1982, the firm has developed over 900 indices, many of which are syndicated in Bloomberg, Reuters, Telerate, The New York Times, Grants, IOMA, Pension & Investments and other leading trade journals.
