New Zealand investors and financial brokers have responded immediately to a multimillion-dollar Internet venture launched this week.

Global-e chief executive Damian Archbold says bond orders totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars were received during the company's first few hours of business.

An investor in London was among the first to purchase one of the US$1060 Bonds.

The company says interest is strong, even before the launch a high profile advertising campaign, to begin later this month.

Global-e Investments is a New Zealand-based Internet company offering investors 20-year bonds and share options in its new e-Commerce business. New Zealand Bondholders are also eligible for daily Internet prize draws totaling nearly US$40 million a year.

This week's first orders came through local brokers and via the new company's website, located at www.global-ebonds.com.

Broker Interest
The company's new investment package has also received strong interest from financial planners at presentation seminars around the country. More than a hundred financial planners attended presentations today in Wellington and Christchurch where they heard more detail about the new offer, called Global-e Bonds.

Global-e's Auckland office has fielded dozens of inquiries including requests for broker registrations forms, broker agreements and investor packs. One broker alone asked for over 100 investor packs.

More than 50 broker offices around the country have already registered on the Global-e website, so they can promote the new product to investors.

'Sex Appeal'
Kelvin Syms, Managing Director of Northplan Financial Services says as long as investors understand their investment is based on the return of their capital with a 1% return after 20 years, then the daily, monthly and annual prize draws will attract investors looking for 'sex appeal'.

"Investors we have already spoken to are particularly attracted to the annual draw of US$10million," he said.

Women’s Financial Planning Services is a Christchurch firm specializing in investment advice for women, Managing Director and senior financial adviser Sheryl Sutherland says the Global-e Bond offers investors fun and security.

"It’s a great combination," she says.

"Where else can you buy into the growth of e-commerce with an assured return after twenty years, and the chance of winning tens of millions in a prize draw?"

Global-e Investments today identified the services it expects to launch on its private e-Commerce site.

As the global community concept grows, Global-e Bondholders can look forward to a comprehensive range of goods and services focused on finance, health and education.
