Spiller appointed to Securities Commission

The government has made new appointments to the Commerce Commission, Securities Commission and reappointed John King to the chair of the Takeovers Panel.
The three Securities Commission appointments, who will each have four-year term are: Cathy Quinn, Colin Beyer and Rodger Spiller.
Spiller is managing director of Money Matters, an investment advisory firm specialising in advising high net worth individuals. He is also executive director for the NZ Business Council for Sustainable Development and the New Zealand Centre for Business Ethics, and the winner of the Financial Planner of the Year Award in 1999.

Quinn is a partner in the law firm Rudd Watt and Stone.
Beyer is a senior partner in the law firm Simpson Grierson and is the chairman of Tower, Summit Resources and Capital Properties New Zealand.
The three new appointments to the Commerce Commission are Peter Taylor, Donal Curtin and Donald Gilling.
Curtin, a former chief international economist for the Bank of New Zealand who runs his own business, Economics New Zealand, in Auckland.
Taylor is a Wellington business management and restructuring consultant, and Gilling's is the Wellington-based managing director of Economic and Social Research Associates. John King, senior partner at Russell McVeagh, has chaired the Takeovers Panel since it was created in 1994 and he was also chairman of the Takeovers Panel Advisory Committee which reported to the Government in 1993. His re-appointment is for two years. The Takeovers Panel administers the Takeovers Code, which will come into force on July 1 this year.
