Hamilton: The centre of excellence?

Hamilton has been scooping the awards for high quality financial advice last year. First up Wayne Oliver was named inaugural Mortgage Broker of the Year by the Mortgage Brokers Association.

Two of the three finalists in the Financial Planner of the Year Award, which is run by Good Returns, work in Hamilton. Those finalists were Fiona Judd of Broadbase, and Graham Baker of Spicers.

Then last week Money Managers crowned Hamilton its top (and most profitable office) and awarded its Investment Adviser of the Year Award to Bob Niemiec - of the Hamilton office.

One less hedge fund to be offered in New Zealand
Challenger had plans to launch a long/short hedge fund, which is run by one of its subsidiary companies BluePeak, in New Zealand, but has since changed its mind.

Challenger NZ chief executive John Rowley says the fund didn't stack up on a tax basis for New Zealand investors.

Latimer visited New Zealand last year and spoke about the fund at the FPIA Conference in Christchurch.
