FPIA Convention chairman Paul O'Brien, has acknowledged an oversight in a recent promotional initiative by the Palmerston North convention committee.

The Palmerston North City Council last week mailed a spent shotgun shell to members of the association who have not yet registered for the convention.

"Unfortunately the envelopes were not stamped with details of the sender, and despite there being a message inside the shell regarding the convention, some recipients were concerned by its arrival," O'Brien says.

"On behalf of the convention committee I can only apologise for any concern our oversight may have caused. The initiative was designed to promote Palmerston North as the defence capital of New Zealand and the theme of our convention 'Taking Charge'.

O'Brien says that the workshop sessions for the convention were being finalised this week and would be communicated to members shortly.

Early bird registrations for the convention remain open until April 28 and current registrations stand at 172.
