Fiona Judd (pictured far left) of Broadbase Waikato has been selected as the winner of this year’s Financial Planner of the Year Award.
The Award, which is organised by Good Returns, is in its third year and has been established to promote financial planning to the public and help raise standards within the industry.
Financial planners who enter the Awards are judged on nine criteria across a range of areas including competency, professionalism and input to the profession.
Massey University screens the entries and provides a list of three finalists. These three finalists then do interviews with a judging panel which includes columnist Mary Holm, Retirement Commissioner Colin Blair and Reserve Bank deputy governor Rod Carr.
Holm, who made the presentation at a gala dinner attended by about 100 people in Auckland last night, said that the quality of finalists was high and that this was a good sign.
"Many, many New Zealanders can get good advice from financial planners," she said.
Judd won the Award because she scored consistently well across all categories.
The two other finalists were Brent Procter of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Auckland (pictured middle) and Alison Renfrew of Creating Wealth (pictured right) in Wellington.
The Awards are sponsored by AMP, AXA, ING, Perpetual Investments and Sovereign. Prizes are supplied by Morningstar and Microsoft.
Previous winners of the Award (who are ineligible to enter this year) include Jordi Garcia and Rodger Spiller.
