Pat Waite has been appointed Public Trust’s chief executive, effective immediately. Waite has been leading Public Trust as acting chief executive since January this year.
Waite has worked in the banking and finance industry in New Zealand, Asia and Australia for 30 years in senior roles with the Bank of New Zealand, Trust Bank and Westpac. Since leaving Westpac in 2001, he has undertaken roles with Wellington City Council, was involved in the establishment of the Westpac Stadium and the St James Theatre and is the current President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

He is an honorary life member of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance and has also had a number of directorships.
His involvement with Public Trust dates from 2001 when he was appointed a director of the Public Trust Modernisation Board. When Public Trust became a Crown Owned Entity in early 2002, he became a director of the new Board. Waite resigned from the Board to become acting chief executive earlier this year following the resignation of former chief executive Tim Sole.
