Absolute Capital has expanded its internal research capabilities and strengthened its investment team, growing the number of members to six.
The newly expanded team consists of Bill Entwistle, head of structured debt investments, Lincoln Valentine, investment analyst, Anthony Smit, head of structured products, Albie van Eeden, head of research and risk management, Andrew Wong, investment analyst, and Deon Joubert who takes on a more hands-on dual role of chief investment officer as well as group managing director.
Joubert, who is also group managing director, says that this team will expand research undertaken in-house and focus on streamlining product offerings to fill gaps in the market place.
"My skills are complementary to those of the investment team which will report directly to me, in my role as chief investment officer, and we will focus on combining certain aspects of the structured debt and hedge fund research processes," he says.
"This is a logical fit as there are many similarities in the qualitative assessment we use in our two investment strategies."

Smit has been closely involved in Absolute Capital’s first structured product which is backed by a portfolio of structured debt securities and has a risk management and risk transfer background.
Van Eeden as head of product management has successfully managed Absolute Capital’s middle office and now brings risk management, transaction negotiation and currency trading skills to the front office.
Wong has been a part-time member of Absolute Capital’s Investment Team for about a year and now becomes a full-time member.
Monty Muhl, former chief financial officer, has also been promoted to chief executive officer and will continue to be responsible for finance and now for all business units except for the investment and distribution teams which will continue to report directly to Joubert.
Absolute Capital is one of Australia’s leading alternative investment specialists, with over A$300 million under management spread across 10 investment products on behalf of both institutional and retail investors.
