The Retirement Commission's work to help us 'Get Sorted' is being commended by Progressive Leader Jim Anderton after reading their annual report.

Get Sorted is the Retirement Commission's website where you can find advice and tools to help plan for saving, investing, debt payment, investment, retirement, study costs and to develop financial skills for all ages.

"The work of the Retirement Commission to encourage us all to better manage our finances is the sort of pragmatic support we all need and I congratulate them on their work this year.

"The Progressives are particularly interested in helping people save for their retirement. That includes the government, of course, and we support the continuing contributions the government makes to the Super Fund, which will greatly assist the country prepare for increases in the numbers of older people in the population drawing on retirement income.

"Creating a culture of savings is not only important for retirement. It is clear that families, students, workers and beneficiaries can all benefit from upgrading their financial skills and ability to save.

"I congratulate the Retirement Commission for putting together the new sections on their 'Get Sorted' website which help children, students and parents learn to save and deal with debt such as student loans.

"The Progressives support free tertiary education but that is not going to happen overnight, therefore, helping families and students save for their education is of great benefit," said Jim Anderton.
