United Future revenue spokesperson Gordon Copeland says that his party will be significantly increasing the rate of super for senior New Zealanders.

“United Future will increase the amount married couples receive by $21.34 per week or $1,110 per annum with an equivalent increase for singles ($13.88 per week, or $721.76 per annum).”

In all cases this is a 5.4% increase on current entitlements.

“In addition we will remove GST on rates. Taken together, this will increase the household income of senior citizens on the married rate by an average of about $1,300 per annum.

“It will more than ensure that our seniors can cover the increased cost of electricity and rates, both of which have increased dramatically in the last three years.

NZ First is also pledging to raise the level of NZ Super.
