New marketing group for advisers

Former Professional Investment Services business development manager Dave Birch has established a new firm to help advisory firms to market themselves.

The goal is not to market to the general public but to build business relationships with other professional groups such as accountants.

The group, Get Smart Network (GSN), is a little like PIS in that it is getting advisers and accountants to work together, however the new group is not set up to be a dealer group and won’t have services such as wrap accounts and master trusts.

“GSN has an absolutely unique offering,” Birch says. “We do not seek to be a dealer group or to control an advisers business. The GSN focus is business growth and marketing; not compliance or control.

“This differentiates GSN from the provider controlled groups or foreign owned entities looking to capitalize on changes to the regulatory framework in New Zealand.”

Birch says the group will be attractive to independent advisers who are already operating compliantly and wish to significantly grow their new business income. While it will focus accountants and advisers in the investment area, the group also is offering other services in the finance area, such as an accountant wanting to source plant and equipment finance for a client.
