He will report to Head of Equities Amanda Smith and will be involved with research in both the equity and listed property sectors. He will also be a member of ING's Asset Allocation Committee.
Brown was formerly a principal at an Auckland-based boutique funds management firm, and he has 17 years experience in the industry,
Brown starts with ING on February 4.
