Westpac's head of Wealth Management, Patrick Middleton said Richardson's appointment was a very positive step in the growth of BT's and Westpac's wealth management business. "Paul brings both his technical expertise and the vision and leadership required of this significant role."
Previously, Richardson was head of BT's New Zealand Equities team and the portfolio manager for NZ equities and property.
Before joining BT in 2003, Paul worked for 12 years with UBS, most recently as an executive director and head of Australian Telecommunications research based in Sydney. Prior to that, he was UBS's head of New Zealand research responsible for covering the telecommunications, utilities, energy and mining sectors for four years and before that he was UBS's New Zealand equity analyst for five years. Paul had earlier worked for six years as a geologist in Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
