The pass rate figure is the latest update from the training organisation which revealed that for the week commencing December 13, 2690 candidates were booked for the Standard Set B examination and 1299 sat and passed the exam, a pass rate of 77%.
The downward trend in Set B pass rates also continued in the latest set of figures, with the pass rate for the week commencing December 6 at 78% against 77% for the week commencing December 13.
Back also said advisers should be aware the Set B examination "covers much more than the Code of Professional Conduct" and that they should visit the afacompetence.org.nz website for the latest information on the exam.
Advisers who need to complete the Standard Set C assessment have also been warned they need to engage with either ETITO or a delegated assessment organisation to begin the process of compiling the required portfolio evidence.
"Advisers wishing to be assessed directly by ETITO should submit their portfolio of evidence at the earliest opportunity to avoid being caught in the rush," Back said.
The Standard Set C covers professional practice, applying the six step advice process and complying with legislation and can only be assessed by ETITO or through a delegated assessment organisation.
That assessment is through the submission of a portfolio of evidence to be the subject of a competency discussion between the adviser and an assessor.
"Advisers should be aware of the time it may take to compile their portfolio," Back said.
"Advisers should also be aware that they could be told they need to collect more evidence to meet the requirements necessary."
