Minimum wage workers will have to be paid to be paid their KiwiSaver contributions on top of their wages, after a court ruling.
The Court of Appeal has upheld a decision made by the Employment Court last year.
Most employers do pay their contributions on top of a salary but some subtract it – a move which is legal.
The ruling means those paying the minimum will no longer be able to do so, so those who are in KiwiSaver will earn an extra $540 a year.
