The company’s managing director, Nadine Tereora, says the new role reinforces the importance of the claims experience for customers and advisers.

“It is a fundamental customer perception point, it’s our moment of truth.  It is already a big reason advisers recommend us to their customers and we want to continue to build on this."

Lonergan has been at Sovereign, most recently as general manager of claims.

Tereora says Lonergan will bring extensive experience to the role.

“Tracey is a highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills. Her expertise in building customer relationships will be a valuable asset to our team, with her appointment signalling our ongoing commitment to enhancing claims and customer experience at Asteron Life.”

Lonergan said she felt privileged to be building on Asteron Life’s success in the claims sector.

“I believe that the measure of a great claims team is not only how quickly and accurately claims are accepted, but the customers’ experience during that time,” she says.  “It’s very important to understand the difference between claim management and case management and how to apply each during the claims process.”

She starts her new role in early June.
