It is the company's most comprehensive health insurance product.

nib has announced it will provide cover for non-Pharmac funded drugs approved by Medsafe for use at home as well as in hospitals, for six months after admission.

Ultimate Health Max customers will also be given guaranteed benefits and future upgrades.

nib said what would mean customers would know exactly what they were covered for and the benefit limits that would apply.

nib will automatically apply future enhancements by adding benefits or increasing the limits applied to the benefits.

It is also providing extra services for cancer patients.

If the customer is willing, a case manager will be assigned so the customer only has one point of contact within the organisation when a cancer claim is being dealt with.

Counselling and support services benefits are also being made available and a "cancer accessories" benefit has been introduced which covers things such as a wig, scarf or mastectomy bras.

A loyalty grant will also available after one year of continuous cover, if a breast symmetry surgery is required post-breast reconstruction surgery.

nib will also cover follow-up investigations. Every year for up to five years, it will cover one registered specialist and unlimited diagnostic procedures relating to the cancer event.

It is also covering unlimited physiotherapy for six months after a surgical or medical event and has increased its level of cover for therapeutic care from $2590 a year to $1000 for ostepathic, chiropractiuc, sports physician and speech and occupational therapy. Dietitian consultants will be covered for up to six months after a patient is discharged from hospital.

nib said the ability for Ultimate Health and Ultimate Health Max customers within one insured group to tailor their cover was unique. Customers choose the cover they want and then the excess that will apply.
