A Sovereign spokesperson confirmed there were changes under way.

"In order to achieve our vision of being the difference in life’s moments of truth, our strategy aims to reduce complexity in our business and deepen customer relationships. In order to ensure the successful execution of this strategy we are reorganising our leadership team," she said.

"We believe the changes will allow Sovereign to become a more competitive, customer orientated, responsive and innovative company. The changes will be effective from Monday, September 5."

Industry sources said the changes could affect roles including the chief financial officer, Linda Page, chief transformation officer, Darrin Bull, chief health officer, Len Elikhis, and chief officer of customer management and product, Rebecca Russell.

It was believed more could follow.

But the spokesperson said it was not possible to confirm which roles would be affected and more details would be available closer to the time.

Sovereign has recently hired a new chief executive, Nick Stanhope, and a new chief distribution officer, Richard Klipin.
