It comes as AA announced this week that it was entered the health insurance market, through a partnership with nib.

A spokeswoman said nib regularly reviewed its products to ensure they provide the level of health cover and benefits that our customers expected.

“This review also takes into account the claims experience and pricing of each product to ensure our products remain affordable and competitive,” she said.

“On an annualised basis, our Ultimate Health product has increased 5.1% while our Ultimate Health Max product rose by 5.8%. Renewing customers will also experience an individual increase based on their renewal date and including ageing. Despite any increase our customers may receive, our products remain price competitive and deliver great value for money.”

Nib also offers a range of  "everyday" cover that covers the basics, and is designed to appeal to younger customers who do not want or need comprehensive cover.
