Investors die waiting

Repayment of Canterbury Mortgage Trust money is coming too late for some investors.

The $250 million fund was frozen in 2009.

Some of the 5000 investors have since died and BDO and Trustees Executors have encouraged others to transfer their interest to beneficiaries, Stuff reported.

The number of people hwo had to be contacted by the manager increased by about 100 a year.

Investors have so far been repaid 85.5 cents in the dollar.
