It reported that 15,726 professionals had joined the network, taking the number to 175,573 worldwide.
The net increase in numbers was 5472, or 3.2%.
There are 279 people with the CFP mark in New Zealand.
“To establish financial planning as a recognized global profession, FPSB has set itself an ambitious goal to have 250,000 CFP professionals in 40 territories by 2025,” said Noel Maye, chief executive of FPSB.
“With a global CFP professional growth rate of 3.2% last year within the FPSB network, and talks underway in over 10 additional territories, FPSB is making solid progress in its efforts to increase the public's access to competent and ethical financial planners, who work in their clients' interest.”
The US was responsible for 60% of global growth. China, Brazil and Japan added another 30%.
China Taipei added a net 247 CFPs, a growth rate of 25%.
