Gough took on his role at the adviser group in the past few weeks. His appointment comes after Kepa took a 25% stake in Mortgage Lab last year. Gough will keep his Mortgage Lab responsibilities while holding the new role.

Gough is tasked with building out Kepa's adviser network and also maintaining Kepa's relationship with New Zealand's major lenders. One of his immediate responsibilities is helping Kepa launch its customer relationship management system.

Kepa founder and Chief Executive Jeff Page said: “We are delighted Rupert has agreed to take this role. He is a strong leader with a record of success. In recognition of this, Kepa late last year selected Mortgage Lab as the inaugural participant of its partnership programme in which Kepa invests in outstanding financial advisory businesses."

Since November 2015, Gough has been the Treasurer of The Kepa Foundation, the adviser group's charitable arm which provides support to Kiwi children.

Gough set up Mortgage Lab in March 2017, according to his LinkedIn page, and has enjoyed a long career in the mortgage advisory industry. Between 2011 and 2017, Gough worked for Velocity Financial, and prior to this, worked for NZ Post as a Finance Assistant.

He is also a part-time author, according to his website. Gough launched a new book, 'The Successful First Home Buyer', in March 2018. Gough received a Diploma in Business Studies and Economics from Massey University in 2013.
