Calmer year predicted for property

The residential property boom which saw house prices in parts of the country increase by 24% this year has probably peaked.

In the 12 months to November 30, 2002, the national median selling price rose from $176,200 to $195,000, an increase of 10.7% on the previous year
The market in most parts of the country was buoyant, with regional price rises ranging from 2.2% in Taranaki to 16.2% in Nelson/Marlborough. In Auckland it was positively booming.
