Landslip threatens Raglan properties

A major landslip is threatening lives and millions of dollars worth of Raglan property, according to a report to Waikato District Council (WDC).

The report by Opus geotechnical engineer Nigel Edger said a landslide around Raglan's Rose St and Wallis St (near the Raglan wharf) might be triggered by an earthquake or heavy rain.

Up to 44 properties worth millions of dollars could be affected.

His findings were based on advice that Wallis St had a 10-year history of movement that included minor slumping, resident complaints about doors jamming, and the "squeezing" of drains.
