Mackenzie values rocket up

Mackenzie property values have soared, with increases of up to 80 per cent in Tekapo and Twizel.

QV Rating is about to release the three-yearly revaluation of the district, and in a presentation to the Mackenzie District Council on Friday, revealed significant increases in land values across the district.

The capital value of the district has increased by 39 per cent and land value by 119 per cent. The district is valued at $1.35 billion, and the 3455 properties have an average capital value of $392,000.

The biggest increases in residential values are in Tekapo and Twizel, with increases of 83 per cent and 84 per cent respectively. That brings the average CV in Tekapo to $259,000, and in Twizel to $117,000.
