Heartland victims doubt boom claim

Victims of the Heartland Homes collapse in Auckland are challenging claims by its chief that he was a victim of the building boom.

Heartland director Stephen King last week blamed problems getting tradespeople and the rising price of materials as factors contributing to the collapse of his business which was working on more than 27 new houses between Clevedon and Warkworth.

But three Heartland clients say serious problems emerged with the company months ago.
