Rotten luck hits tenant

A Christchurch mother is nursing a bruised and swollen leg after falling through the borer-weakened floor of her Housing New Zealand home.

Erin Gilmour, 33, was in the bedroom of her Piko Crescent, Riccarton, home last Thursday when the accident happened. Only a week before, she had phoned Housing NZ to complain that the floorboards in the bedroom were cracking, but no action was taken.

"My foot went straight through the floorboards. Of course I'm no Twiggy so the weight didn't help – my leg just went straight through and jammed up to the knee."
