Manukau council buys large chunk of Papatoetoe

A large chunk of Old Papatoetoe is now owned by the Manukau City Council after a multi-million dollar deal.

The council has just completed the deal for an undisclosed sum, buying New World and the 30 shops surrounding it.

Manager of the council's property management, Steven Culpan, says it has owned the land for many years but an oversees investor owned the buildings.
