Council chief executive Ciaran Keogh declined to say how many tenders had been lodged before Thursday's close-off - "not enough to get us away" - but confirmed the first 17 sections would now be marketed individually, with set prices. They will range from $30,000 up to $70,000 for the "real plum ones."

The sections vary in size from about 500sq m to 990sq m.

CRT Real Estate will continue to market the land for the next six weeks before the council revisits the matter again.
