Developer fined over sediment discharge

An Auckland developer was yesterday fined $20,000 for failing to provide proper sediment controls at a subdivision.

Clayburn Developments Ltd, of Glen Eden, was prosecuted by the Auckland Regional Council after repeated attempts to get the developer to install controls to minimise sediment discharging into a stream.

The fine was originally $30,000 but reduced by Judge Fred McElrea in Auckland District Court, to take the company's guilty plea into account.
