High income tenants fail to alarm

Calls for the Government to review the eligibility of some west Auckland state house tenants are being rubbished by Housing Minister Steve Maharey.

National Party Housing spokesman David Carter says he received information from Mr Maharey late last year showing some state house tenants in west Auckland have a net household income of more than $1400 a week.

With more than 12,575 people on Housing New Zealand waiting lists last November, the system needs reviewing, Mr Carter says.
