Five people have now been arrested in relation to the incident and three of those are facing kidnapping charges.

Detective Sergeant Megan Goldie says she would like to hear from any landlords who rent a property to male Asians, possibly in the Birkenhead area.

She says a woman, believed to be the landlord, visited the house and tried to inspect the room where the victim was being held but was told someone was asleep.

The victim, who was lured to the house by someone he met in an internet chatroom, believes the landlord was from southern China.
