Demand for fixed rates pressures lenders

Demand from homeowners wanting to lock up their mortgages has kept the pressure on lending institutions to trim their rates, a new survey shows.

Competition in the mortgage marketplace continues to be strongest in the fixed term category, according to the latest survey conducted by the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand on Monday.
