Interest to pay on low jobless figures

New Zealand now has the second-lowest unemployment rate in the Western world, after Switzerland, but the price may be higher interest rates next month.

At 4.4 per cent, New Zealand's jobless rate is back to levels last seen in late 1987 - the final year of the 1980s sharemarket boom. In the recession of the early 1990s, the jobless rate peaked at more than 11 per cent.
