Thousands more in paid work

Almost 3000 more people are in paid employment in the top of the South Island compared with a year ago.

The latest Household Labour Forces Survey released on Tuesday showed the national unemployment level was at 4 percent; the lowest it has been since 1987.

The Nelson region's unemployment rate in June this year was 3.2 percent, up slightly from the 3 percent recorded last June, but still one of the lowest in the country.
