Winter weather has not cooled home-buyers' enthusiasm, with property sales rising sharply from the same time last year.

The latest Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (Reinz) housing statistics, released yesterday, show 7486 sales reported nationwide last month, against 6147 recorded in June last year. The average property price rose from $177,000 to $184,000 in the period.
