Panel probes Money Managers unit

Money Managers' property arm is being hauled before the Takeovers Panel over a deal to get control of a $25.5 million bundle of properties where Big Fresh is an anchor tenant.

But Dominion Funds, associated with Money Managers, said the issue involved an error in paperwork that had been corrected.

The panel said yesterday that Dominion Retail Property Funds announced last Tuesday it wanted to buy all the shares and bonds of Tri-City Properties. This investment scheme is a commercial real estate syndicate that owns a Big Fresh in Tauranga, and Napier and a Mt Wellington shopping centre with a Big Fresh and 15 speciality stores.
