Couple allegedly invested just a quarter of money

A Rotorua couple charged with fraud are alleged to have invested just a quarter of the money entrusted to them by people hoping to make massive profits.

On the fourth day of a depositions hearing in the Rotorua District Court Serious Fraud Office accountant Michelle Peden revealed the office had traced nearly $15 million handed over to Bill and Lee Papple and their business partner, Dunedin woman Tina West.

According to the office, bank accounts show that $11.6 million was handed over to Lakeland Wealth Creators, one of two companies owned by the trio.
