Gov't Protects Deadbeats' Privacy
Relief is in sight for landlords wanting to access public records to track down tenants who have done a "midnight flit" with their rent in arrears.

To date, government departments have refused to give creditors the addresses of debtors on privacy grounds.
Now, the Department for Courts is considering a process through which a creditor with a judgment against a debtor might access the debtor's address.
Under the proposed data-matching scheme the creditor can put his case, on specific grounds, to a court registrar.
If the creditor meets the registrar's guidelines, the latter will then approach the appropriate government department for the address.
Once obtained, the address will then be passed on to the court bailiff who will then decide whether or not to act on the information.
