Real estate agents will not be permitted to do conveyancing under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Bill currently before a parliamentary select committee, despite widespread misconceptions to the contrary.

All conveyancers will need to be licensed under the new Act. The new Society of Conveyancers will be setting the same standards, rules and ethics required of conveyancers in NSW and South Australia.
