The Waimauku Estate development proposed by owners the Cornerstone Group may include a town centre, retirement village, school, medical centre, community and recreation facilities, visitor accommodation, golf course, winery and amphitheatre.

A railway station is suggested, as the main northern line runs through the property.

Some commercial uses are planned to serve the estate, while a lake and wetlands could cater for stormwater. Preservation of existing bush stands and further planting are also proposed.

Expected to cater for about 6000 residents, the project was explained to about 25 guests on a tour of the former Renall family farm on Saturday.
