Eighty-one-year-old real estate firm Barfoot and Thompson reports sales activity was four per cent ahead of January and 10 per cent better than for February last year.
Director Peter Thompson says it demonstrates that there is "continued strong interest" in the residential property market across the region.
The average home sale price in February was $360,876, down from January's $382,439.
Mr Thompson believes the decrease is "probably not significant" when predicting market trends, because February's figures were influenced by two apartment complex sales programmes.
